Court hearings

The court's audio record or your own recording, as text you can search. Find the testimony you need without replaying the whole hearing.

❝

Negotiations and client meetings

Who said what, with each speaker labelled. A record to check terms against, and a starting point for the minutes.

⌕

Interrogations and witness interviews

Audio and video recordings of questioning, transcribed sentence by sentence, so contradictions are easy to find and quote.

Hearings: find the moment instead of replaying the tape

A hearing can run for hours, and the answer that matters is a few sentences somewhere in the middle. Upload a copy of the court's recording, where you can obtain one, or your own recording where the court allows it. Deshifr splits it into sentences, and clicking any sentence plays the recording from that moment.

Search the transcript for a name, a date or a term, read the passage around it, and note the timecode. Point to "the recording at 01:12:30" in a motion, an appeal or a note for a colleague, and anyone with the recording can check it. Download the transcript as a .txt with a [mm:ss] timecode on every line and work on it in your own documents.

Negotiations and client meetings

When everyone agrees on the terms but remembers them differently, a recording settles it, if you can find the right minute. With a transcript, you can.

  • Who said what. Each change of speaker is labelled. Rename the labels to "Our side" and "Counterparty", or to people's names, and the names appear at every turn, in the shared page and in the export.
  • The minutes, half written. Start the minutes or a memo from the transcript instead of from memory, and keep the timecode next to each point you take from it.
  • Share it with the client or a colleague. Send a read-only link: they read the transcript in the browser without signing up, and hear the recording only if you choose to include it. Turn the link off when it's no longer needed.

Interrogations and witness interviews

Interrogation and interview recordings often come as video files. Upload the mp4 as it is: Deshifr transcribes the sound. Compare what a witness said in two interrogations side by side, find where the answers change, and quote the exact wording with its timecode.

Automatic transcription isn't perfect: names, legal terms, poor recordings and people talking over each other can come out wrong. A Deshifr transcript is a working copy, not an official or certified transcript. Check every passage against the recording before you quote it or rely on it in court.

Confidentiality

Uploads are private to your account: nobody else can play them, and deleting a transcript removes its text, its share link and the recording itself. Recordings are transcribed by our processors, Amazon Web Services and Deepgram, in the United States. Decide under your professional rules, and your client's instructions, whether a recording can be processed this way, and make sure you are allowed to record in the first place. What happens to your files, and who processes them, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Questions

Is the transcript an official court transcript?

No. It's an automatic transcript for your own work: to find passages quickly, quote them and prepare documents. Where a court or a procedure requires an official or certified transcript, use that, and check anything you take from Deshifr against the recording.

Can I upload the court's recording or a video of an interrogation?

Yes. Files up to 4 hours and 2 GB, in m4a, mp3, wav, mp4, webm, ogg or flac. Split a longer hearing into parts.

Does Deshifr tell the speakers apart?

Yes. Each change of speaker gets a label. Click it to rename the speaker, for example to "Judge", "Witness" or "Counterparty", and the name changes at every turn, on the shared page and in the .txt export too.

Who can see my recordings?

Only you, unless you share a transcript. A share link shows the text, and the recording only if you include it; you can turn the link off at any time. Recordings are processed by Amazon Web Services and Deepgram in the United States; see the Privacy Policy for details.

Which languages are supported?

More than 100, including English, Ukrainian, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Turkish and Portuguese. Choose the language of each recording when you upload it.
