Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Deshifr collects, why, and what you can do about it. PE Samoilov Dmytro is responsible for your data (the data controller).
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and, if you add them, your name, occupation, organisation, time zone and transcription language.
- Your content: the audio and video files you upload, their names, sizes and lengths, and the transcripts we produce.
- Usage and technical data: how many minutes you use, sign-in times and the IP addresses of your recent sign-ins.
- Billing data: your plan, subscription status and Paddle customer ID. Card and payment details are handled by Paddle; we never see or store them.
How we use it
- To provide the service: transcribe your files, show your transcripts and enforce plan limits.
- To manage your subscription and send account emails, such as password resets.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don't sell your data, don't show ads, and don't use your uploads or transcripts to train AI models.
Trying without an account
You can try Deshifr without signing up. The recording and its transcript are then tied to your browser by a cookie and kept for 24 hours, unless you sign up or sign in, which moves them into your account. To keep the free tries fair, we also store the IP address the try came from, for the same 24 hours.
Sharing
Your transcripts and recordings are private to your account. If you turn on sharing for a transcript, anyone with its link can read the text and timecodes and download them; the recording is included only if you choose that for the link. Shared pages are hidden from search engines, and turning sharing off makes the link stop working at once.
Who processes it for us
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, storage of your files (United States), transcription (Amazon Transcribe, United States), our database and app servers (Sweden, EU) and email delivery.
- Deepgram: speech recognition (United States), for uploaded files and for live transcription, where your browser sends the microphone audio to Deepgram directly while you record.
- Anthropic: writing a short title for each transcription; it receives the transcript's text, not the recording (United States).
- Paddle.com: payments, invoicing and tax, as Merchant of Record. Paddle handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
Some of these providers are outside your country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account details, files and transcripts for as long as you have an account.
- When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, apart from billing records we must keep by law.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the site: one to keep you signed in, one for "remember me" if you choose it, and security tokens for forms. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
Your rights
You can see and update your details on your profile, export any transcript as a text file, and delete your account in your account settings. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by writing to support@deshifr.com. If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Security
Data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access to our storage and database is restricted to our own servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Children
Deshifr isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page if anything changes and let you know by email about significant changes.
